Once you have filled in and submitted our form you will be sent a confirmation email confirming your booking. Please read through this and make sure the information we have is correct. One of our collection teams, or an authorised agent may call you if they need to confirm details or re-arrange the collection. Please make sure that you have entered the correct contact details so that we are able to contact you if needed. Once everything is confirmed it's really very simple, we come to collect your scrap car at the agreed time, we complete the paperwork for you. Your vehicle is then taken by one of our scrap recovery vehicles to a licensed ATF where it will be recycled in accordance with environmental rules and regulations. Once this is complete you will be sent a certificate of destruction from the DVLA, proof that the process is complete. The certificate may take up to 4 weeks to arrive at your address.
The service we offer is completely free of charge from pickup to delivering the certificate of destruction back to you. Be wary of companies who do not make this clear or offer you cash for your vehicle. This is often a sign that they are not a legitimate company and might not scrap your car in accordance with current legislation.
If you car is a non-runner this is not generally a problem as we use a variety of recover vehicles to remove your unwanted cars. It is important that we are made aware of any problems which will effect the removal of the car before collection. Problems such as missing wheels, faulty handbrakes and seized engines can all be overcome as long as we are advised in advance.
If we are not informed of any of these problems in advance and the problem stops us from being able to collect the vehicle, then we will have to reclaim the costs from you in the form of a failed collection fee of £100. If you are in any doubt as to whether a problem with the car will stop us collecting it then please phone or email us to ask.
If there are other physical restrictions which would stop us from collecting your car such as height or width restrictions, red routes or other vehicles blocking your car in, then we need to know the exact situation prior to arrival. Failure to notify us of any such condition prior to us arriving will result in a failed collection fee of £100.
After the car has been scrapped at a licensed ATF you will be issued a certificate of destruction by the DVLA. This is a legal document which confirms that your car has been permanently removed from the road and has been recycled in accordance with current environmental regulations. If a company does not offer this proof then it could be a sign that they do not intend to scrap your car and they could either sell it on for profit in an unfit state or worse, allow it to be used in the commission of criminal offences. If your vehicle is not recycled by a legitimate car scrapping company it could potentially cause serious problems for you as you may still be the legal keeper of the vehicle and you won't have the proper proof of destruction.
This is not a problem, we can still get the car recycled for you. Please make this clear on the form at the time of submission as it can involve a slightly longer process. You will also need to complete our vehicle surrender form and hand it to our team at the time of collection. When you remove your vehicle from the road it is extremely important that you tell the DVLA. Failure to do so could result in a fine or prosecution.
When we take your vehicle to be recycled the DVLA are automatically informed that it has been scrapped. However the responsibility lies with the registered owner of the vehicle to inform the DVLA. We therefore suggest sending the DVLA section 9 of your V5c along with a cover note stating when the vehicle was collected.
Again this is not a problem. We will need your permission to enter the car in order to recycle it. Please make this clear by selecting the relevant box on the scrap car form.
Please see our collection area page for the most up to date coverage area as we are constantly expanding. We currently cover most of England and we will soon cover Wales and Scotland too. If in doubt as to whether we can collect your scrap car, please either call and speak to one of our advisors, or fill in our collection form. We will be able to arrange for another licensed and recommended company to collect your vehicle if we are not able to do so ourselves, you won't even need to enter your details again.
We generally do collections between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 Monday through to Friday and 08:00-12:00 on Saturdays. If these times are not convenient then we will try and make alternative arrangements.
As long as you have the V5 and the keys then we can make arrangements for you to leave them somewhere and you will not need to be present. If however you do not have one or both or these then we will need you to sign some forms, so your presence will be required..
If you have your V5 then please complete section 9, this should then be sent to the DVLA in Swansea once collection has been completed. Also make sure you have the keys to hand and the vehicle is free from excess waste and all of your personal possessions (including the tax disc if you wish to reclaim any unused tax).
We recommend keeping section 9 of your V5 document and sending this to the DVLA with a cover note informing them that you have had your vehicle recycled. Doing this ensures that there will be no problems at a later date. Section 9 of the V5 should be sent off as soon as possible after your car is collected to minimise the chance of any further action being required.
If you have any further questions relating to vehicle recycling or would like us to collect your car for free then please call our office on 0844 357 0502 or alternatively complete our online scrap vehicle collection form.
You will need a V14 form from the DVLA which can be downloaded here or on their website.
No, we do not buy or sell any cars. All the cars we collect are recycled, we never pay for scrap cars. We would advise against selling your scrap car to anyone offering money for it as this could lead to all sorts of problems, the car might not be scrapped and you maybe fined.
